South Datoka Passes Bill to Ban Abortions in State

In hopes of challenging Roe v. Wade, the S.D. House has passed a bill to ban virtually all abortions in its state. The bill passed by a vote of 47-22 and will now go to the Senate where the vote is expected to be closer.

I seriously doubt that Roe will be overturned even in the more conservative Roberts court. As with the increase in underage liquor punishments, a total ban on abortion will not stop the practice. Joe Malchow is correct that perhaps all hell won't break lose if Roe is overturned, but the inevitable state bans would not limit the number of abortions and would humiliate and injure women and children.
